Virgin vs Remy

Looking for hair extensions, can sometimes be difficult with all these new brands, textures, and types, popping up daily. Should I buy “Virgin or Remy” is one of the most common questions I get.

I have used both virgin and remy cuticle.  They are both premium top of the line hair weave extensions.

Virgin hair is completely free of all chemicals such as relaxers, perms, silicone, or color dyes. It’s natural and unprocessed. The cuticles have not been damaged nor has the true structure of the hair.

Remy Cuticle hair or Cuticle hair means that the direction of the hair is preserved; cuticles are kept intact and each hair strand is kept in one direction. Remy Cuticle hair usually comes from a single donor. Remy Cuticle hair can be virgin,  dyed or processed.

Cuticles aligned in the same direction

Both Virgin and Remy Cuticle hair are versatile.  You can do more with the hair. So you are able to wash, curl, flat iron, dye, and the hair can be used multiple times. Luxury hair extensions like Charles Julian Collection, can be used for up to a year or longer.

Remy Non-Cuticle hair is often confused with Remy Cuticle hair, but there are major differences between the two.

Remy Non-Cuticle is stripped from various donors so the cuticles are not aligned in the same direction. Often the hair is soaked in acid and then silicone is added to give it that shiny appearance.

This is the main reason I don’t recommend using Remy Non-Cuticle hair because once it is washed the silicone wears off then the hair tangles and mats quickly because the cuticles are not all facing the same direction.

Virgin hair and Remy Cuticle hair may be a little more costly, but it’s worth it because the hair is reusable. When you buy Remy Non Cuticle hair which is sold in most local beauty stores you can’t reuse it, so really you’re throwing your money out the window because you have to replace it about every 3 weeks, so you end up spending more.

Spend a little more now, save a lot more later....

What are your thoughts on “Virgin vs Remy”?
